Today’s church relies on technology just as much as any modern business does. Multiple software applications are needed to produce bulletins and newsletters and then SaaS products are used to deliver digital versions to people’s inboxes. Digital phone systems, business-class wired and wireless networks, and a host of SaaS products are used every day to facilitate communications between church staff. Live streaming is the norm. High tech sound and lighting systems, projectors, smart TVs, computers, and video cameras can be found from sanctuaries to Sunday school rooms to youth facilities. Centrally controlled building access systems and HVAC systems make sure the doors are open or closed at the right times and that rooms are the right temperature. Mobile-friendly websites are expected as is digital marketing and a social media presence.
Church Bytes will periodically explore how all this relates to church operations and, specifically, how it impacts us here at FBC. I invite you to follow along and explore that rabbit hole that is technology in today’s church.
